Sayyed Fadlullah received groups of Bahraini pilgrims and a delegation from the Hwzah of Al-Najaf:

Remaining silent on the situation in Palestine reveals that the Arab and Islamic role has diminished and declined

His Eminence, the Religious Authority Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah, said that the silence of the Arabs and Muslims on what is going on in Palestinian reveals that their role has diminished and that they have fallen into the trap and established a new period of decline. He warned of negotiation schemes aimed at normalizing relationships with the enemy adding that studies are submitted to the American administration to advocate starting these negotiations under the pressures and pains suffered by the Palestinians.

His Eminence stressed that as a nation, we have to think of how to be capable of determining the destiny of the world, through our abilities, capacities, wealth, and population. He added that the unity of the Sunnis and the Shiites empowers the Arab and Muslim nation.

The Sayyed continued to receive groups of pilgrims and political and religious figures at his residence in Holy Mecca, where he received Sheikh Muhammad Al-Hindawi heading a delegation that embraced thirty religious scholars from the Hawzah of the Holy Najaf.

Sheikh Hindawi spoke for the delegation, lauding Sayyed Fadlullah, saying: He is a reference (marjaiyah) who follows up on the people's concerns and causes. A reference that does not care for the people's issues and affairs is a curtailed reference.

He added: We love and respect you and appreciate your positions. We follow up on your wise and rational speeches. You knew how to recruit religion for the sake of mankind and to mobilize Man for the sake of religion. This is the duty of the Mujahid religious scholar. We are waiting for you there in the Hwzah of the Holy Najaf where you were born and where you studied and taught.

His Eminence Sayyed Fadlullah responded to Sheikh Hindawi expressing his love and appreciation for all our brothers and children in the Hawzah of the Holy Najaf which [the Hawzah] we want to renovate the Najaf so as to regain its history, back then when the aware and innovating group emerged. This group presented Islam in a pure civilized image and strived to engage it in the modern era and insisted that it represents a foundation for ideology, Shariah, and life in general.

He added: Our main concern should be how to render the Muslims a global power that befits their population, abilities, capacities, and wealth. We should also focus on how to further enhance the interaction between science and Islam and how to be qualified to determine the destiny of the world, instead of having the fateful decisions that shapes the destiny and the future of the world monopolized by the superpowers that only seek to achieve their own interests. These superpowers endeavor to plunder the wealth of the nations and take over their decisions and capacities, especially our people in the Arab and Islamic world.

His Eminence emphasized that we should gain scientific, cultural, industrial, and financial power in order to reach the level of the states and nations that have far exceeded ours and to create a promising future for our people and Islam.

His Eminence received groups of pilgrims coming from Bahrain headed by Sheikh Hasan al-Maliki who spoke for them praising Sayyed Fadlullah, the great father and teacher. He addressed the Sayyed saying that your persistence to come to the Holy Mecca carries great meanings and we are glad to be here and enrich ourselves with your ideological and scientific contribution. The pleasure of meeting you while we are heading to complete our pilgrimage duties is beyond description.

The Sayyed responded to Sheikh Al-Maliki and spoke about the literal, cultural, and religious movement that emerged from Bahrain and which carries the seeds of awareness, openness, and sacrifice.

His Eminence said we have to be inspired by the experience of the prophet [p] in uniting the Arabs and the Muslims. This experience should be a model for all of us so as to unite our ranks in Bahrain and elsewhere and in order for us, Sunnis and Shiites, to secure our unity which empowers the nation and prevents others from manipulating the confessional differences to create a rift and disrupt our internal reality.

He added: You have to realize that the broader sense of the pilgrimage ascends above all the individual interests and elements of schism. Through our movement in Hajj, we have to say that we as Muslims will communicate, talk, and cooperate to thwart all the attempts of creating rifts between us and to reject all efforts of holding each others as infidels.

He also said that the situation in the occupied Palestine, particularly under the continuous Israeli siege imposed on Gaza, the Arabs' and Muslims' abstention from carrying out their role in supporting the Palestinian people and lifting off the embargo, reveals that their role has diminished and they have fallen into the trap and established a new period of decline in order to eventually start negotiations with the enemy. The pains and grieves the Palestinian people are exposed to will force the Arabs to endorse the enemy's conditions during the negotiations that are circulated by American study centers and others in the context of suggestions and approaches submitted to the coming administration. It appears clear that they want the Arabs to normalize relationships with Israel and succumb to its conditions by manipulating the Palestinians' pains and grieves.

His Eminence called for demonstrating Arab and Islamic solidarity with Palestine in order to make the Arabs and Muslims adopt the Palestinian cause and assume their responsibilities in defending the Palestinians in light of the pains and sufferings they are exposed to.

Pakistani pilgrims

His Eminence received a group of Sunni and Shiite pilgrims who briefed him on the situation in Pakistan, in light of attempts made by various sides to provoke sedition in the Islamic circles, namely between the Sunnis and the Shiites.

The Sayyed stressed that the Muslims in Pakistan, both Shiites and Sunnis, should settle all disputes with wisdom and dialogue as the Holy Quran said. His Eminence also denounced the recent bombings that targeted the unity of the Muslims, namely those that took place in the northeast of Pakistan in Peshawar city against a group of Muslims. He said that the perpetrators of these aggressive activities are backward, ignorant, and criminals, and have offered free services for the nation's enemies who seek to provoke a confessional rift. He noted that this crime in specific carries new aggressive fingerprints, especially since it targeted a gathering to settle the dispute with the Sunnis.

The Sayyed underscored that the Pakistani Authorities should assume their responsibilities more so now that these criminal operations which represent a threat for the Pakistani security and the unity of the Muslims are rising.

Mufti Al-Shaar and Minister Shams Al-Din

His Eminence the Sayyed also received the Mufti of Tripoli and the North Sheikh Malek Al-Shaar in Mecca and addressed a number of Islamic issues.

He also received in his camp in Arafa Minister Ibrahim Shams Al-Din
