Aggression on Gaza, the Palestinian cause, PLO , receiving Palestinian personalities

The Sayyed received Hawatmah and a delegation from the Democratic Front
Fadlullah cautions against a coma plaguing the PLO while the Palestinian cause is exposed to a security and political invasion

The Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah, received the Secretary General of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Nayef Hawatmah, heading a delegation from the front. Sayyed Fadlullah and Hawatmah discussed the Palestinian situation in details, in addition to the security and political dimensions of the ongoing offensive on Gaza and the means to face this barbaric attack, namely through a Palestinian internal cohesion. Also, the meeting addressed the responsibilities of the Arab and Islamic nation towards the Palestinians.

Sayyed Fadlullah said that a key reason behind the Palestinian crisis is the retreat of the Palestinian Liberation Organization from the events taking place on the Palestinian arena. This organization is paralyzed, and it acts upon the demands of the Arabs, not the requirements of the Palestinian cause. Thus, it attempted to make itself absent, just as others have also worked to keep it absent in the framework of the overlapping efforts to disrupt the Palestinian cause at various levels.

His Eminence, the Sayyed, stressed the need to reestablish the PLO through an actual confrontation with the enemy in the field battles, rather than being plagued by a coma as many Arab regimes are.

Fadlullah also said that the Palestinian cause is at a very critical juncture, and is exposed to a security and political invasion covered up by various international axes and with the collaboration of Arab axes as well. Hence, prompt actions must be taken in order to heal the internal Palestinian political wounds, unite the Palestinian ranks, and stop the internal erosion which provides appropriate grounds for foreign attacks to finish off the Palestinian cause completely.

His Eminence expressed his surprise that this brutal aggression on Gaza and the Palestinian people has not produced a real shock on the Palestinian arena, one that would lead to a fruitful dialogue and restore the vitality of the cause and prevent any efforts from dragging this cause into the dark Arab and international mazes.

For his part, Hawatmeh said: "I was glad to meet with His Eminence, the Religious Authority Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah, who has a spiritual and political influence on Palestine and its people, and enjoys a special status in the hearts of the Palestinians, from Gaza to Jenine, to Al-Naqab, Galilee, and the coast and the Diaspora. I hope Sayyed Fadlullah would continue his efforts to reconstruct the Nahr al-Barid refugee camp, because he has always stood up for the right of return and rejected any attempts to naturalize the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.
