Reception of an Iranian delegation

Fadlullah: Iran is undergoing a critical phase, and he who managed to conduct a dialogue with the Americans by means of a proxy can conduct a similar one with the Americans themselves

His Eminence, the Religious Authority Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah, received a delegation of the Iranian Committee for the Support of the Palestinian Resistance, headed by the vice-president of the Shura Council, Muhammad Rida Taj Al-Deeni, the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister, Hussein Sheikh Al-Islam, the Iranian MP, Dr. Nasser Sudani, and the Head of the Middle East Department at the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Ghadanfar Rokn Abadi, and the vice-president of the Iranian As-Shahid Association, Dr. Abbass Khamyar.

During the meeting, they discussed the challenges facing the Palestinian people, in terms of the new steps taken by the American Administration towards a "peace process" in the region, as well as the continuous threats and displacement operations targeting the Palestinians in Jerusalem and the West Bank. They also went through the recent developments in the Iranian internal arena, and the calls addressed to Iran to conduct a dialogue with the Americans.

The delegation congratulated His Eminence on the anniversary of the triumph of the Lebanese resistance against the Israeli enemy, and they conveyed to him the greetings of the officials and leaders in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

His Eminence, Sayyed Fadlullah, said that the Islamic Republic of Iran represents the fundamental Islamic base against the Western hegemony in the region, and the main supporter to all the resistance forces against the Israeli enemy. Therefore, endangering Iran, whether as a result of mistaken political calculations, or through inaccurate political relations and stands, represents a treason to the Islamic and Arab project that resists all kinds of hegemony and occupation, besides the dangers reflected on its Islamic system and movement at the level of the entire region.

I believe that what took place in Iran during and after the elections represents a political experience of a great importance regardless of certain mistakes that accompanied this experience. Moreover, the Iranian people appeared to be of a high political vitality, and eager to vote. They also showed how loyal they were and how they embraced the Revolution, the Islamic system, as well as the essential political lines adopted by the system at the level of supporting and aiding the liberation movements in the region.

His Eminence praised what the Islamic Republic had offered to the Palestinian people and the Palestinian cause, calling to proceed with their support and to communicate with all the Palestinian factions and to open up to the Palestinian arena. This would provide the Palestinians with the opportunity of establishing unity against the Israeli occupation that is aiming at eradicating the Palestinian presence in Jerusalem and failing the dream of establishing a Palestinian state by imposing the reality of colonization.

His Eminence confirmed that Iran has stepped into a critical phase related to its power and status and the upheaval in the region, in general. Therefore, the Iranians ought to handle things wisely and objectively, especially concerning dialogue with the American Administration, pointing out to the necessity of starting such a dialogue, especially since the Islamic Republic has gone through an important experience at the level of dialogue with the European countries; a dialogue that was conducted by proxy in certain circumstances. Therefore, it would be no problem to conduct a dialogue with the Americans themselves, without making any concessions.

His Eminence emphasized that dialogue and understanding should basically be with the neighboring Arab and Islamic countries, to establish a strong Arab and Islamic security at the basis of preserving the nation's interest, instead of directing it towards what serves the interests and ambitions of the others.
