The Lebanese should benefit from the international developments to formulate their internal reconciliation
The Religious Authority H.E. Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah received former speaker Sayyed Hussein Al-Husseini.
They discussed the general situation in Lebanon, and the political developments that followed the Doha agreement and the coming stage in view of the parliamentary elections.
Sayyed Fadlullah and former speaker Husseini emphasized the need of all parties to shoulder their political and national responsibility in providing an adequate atmosphere for holding the elections on time.
H.E. stressed that all parties should strive to make the coming stage an opportunity to reunite the Lebanese, on the basis of all sects playing a reconciliatory and cohesive role among the Lebanese, and not inciting trouble or turmoil among them.
In this respect, all parties should strive to make the coming elections an opportunity to help change the political and security situation into what serves the interest of Lebanon and the Lebanese, and paves the way for an internal political reconciliation that would give impetus for the state, having been delayed or even undermined in the last years, as a result of complicated political divisions in and around this small country.
The Sayyed saw that it is very dangerous for the internal political debate to go back to the negative state that it sank in the previous years, inciting strife and producing new political complications we are certainly in no need of.
He emphasized that the Lebanese should benefit from the new developments in the region and the world to formulate their internal reconciliation on a sound foundation that stresses the need of respecting others and not showing off by the political and popular representation that might change when the region or the international circumstances change.
H.E. pointed out to the dangerousness the new electoral law has posed, when it made every sect a prisoner of its internal circles away from coexistence that the Lebanese would feel, when they integrate socially and politically.
Sayyed Fadlullah asked about the reason that prevents the state from executing the projects of the Lebanese waters. Is it under international pressure that Israel has called for so as not to benefit from the Litani ?or is it another case of the state of negligence and impotence as a result of the absence of political economic and social planning?
