|Reception of the French MP, Gerard Babette|
Fadlullah: The French stands reveal that the French authorities do not respect their country's resistance against the Nazi occupation.
His Eminence, the Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah, called on the French authorities to handle the issues in the region with what conforms to France's huge human, moral, and intellectual heritage represented by the French Revolution, and not to be a marginal party in the NATO that represents America's stick against nations. He also said that the tendency of some French officials to justify the terrorist Israeli acts against the Palestinian people reveals that the French authorities do not respect the French resistance against the Nazis.
His Eminence received the French MP, Gerard Babette, and they discussed the general situations in Lebanon and the region and evaluated the French - Lebanese relations in terms of the stands taken by the French state since President Sarkozy assumed power…
His Eminence said that France should return to the principles and concepts launched by the French Revolution to approach the nations' affairs, especially the Arab and Islamic peoples that paid high prices as a result of the western colonization countries, whether by direct occupation and the continuous hegemony on their decisions, or by facilitating the arrival of the Jewish occupiers to Palestine. Their acts led to displacing the Palestinian people and expelling them from their land, and undermining the region's security and stability, and threatening the international security to maintain the security of the usurping Jews.
He added: General de Gaulle was more understanding to the region's issues and more respectful to the French principles and constants. Thus, he stood against Israel when he found out that it was the aggressor back in 1967.
However nowadays, France, through many of its symbols who present themselves as loyal friends to Israel, does not feel embarrassed to side with the occupier against the Palestinian people and to justify the occupier's terrorist acts. This only reveals that the French authorities not only disrespect the French people's resistance against the Nazi occupier, but they also condemn the acts of the resistance movement against the occupier and consider them to be unacceptable, to further pave the way for legitimizing the occupier and its terrorist acts.
When we listened to the statements of some French officials on the Iranian peaceful nuclear dossier, we thought that the speaker was an Israeli official and that he was not speaking on behalf of a European country that has major interests in the region and that is inhabited by millions of Muslims and whose interests intersect with the interests of the Arab and Islamic interests at several levels. This would only further complicate things in more than one aspect in the French - Islamic relation, in addition to the grave suggestions that France is taking into consideration the Israeli security before France's commitment to the issues of human rights and the right to self-determination, especially that these stands coincide with the issuing of the results of the investigation conducted by certain UN agencies on the Israeli crimes and massacres committed in Gaza, among which is the usage of internationally-banned weapons against civilians.
His Eminence called on France to handle the issues in Lebanon and the region with what conforms to France's huge human, moral, and intellectual heritage represented by the principles of the French Revolution, and not by total dependency on the American policy and being a marginal party in the NATO that represents America's stick against the peoples, rendering the European countries a marginal party in the NATO and forcing them to abandon their nature, personal pride, and independent human character.
