The Annual American Terror Report

Sayyed Fadlullah: All attempts to boost America’s image through various media means are doomed to fail, for it will not be able to change its ugly face or to erase the horrific memories it implanted in the minds of the Arabs, the Muslims and all peace loving nations.

Asked in his weekly seminar the following question: Until when would this report continue to act as a means of intimidating those who oppose the US policies in the region?

The Religious Authority Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah said:

One of the most obvious examples of political terror in our contemporary world is demonstrated by the US Department of State annual report concerning international terrorism. This report that tries to list events in a factual manner that serves the American political and strategic interests has turned into a tool to intimidate the states that still oppose the American policies in the region, especially the states that still adopt the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, like Syria and Iran.

But if the previous reports focused on Syria and Iran to drive them to change their stances towards the Palestinian cause, the last report aims at forcing them to take part in the American game in Iraq. The Americans want these countries to provide suitable conditions that would enable the occupation to last for years and accept all the decisions and projects the occupation intends to execute.

To do so, America has been interfering in Iranian internal affairs, and waging an informational and political war against it. Syria too has received the same treatment, and the Americans are about to impose new sanctions against it in accordance with the new Syrian Accountability Law that was passed in the first place as a result of the Jewish lobbying to serve Israeli interests that were adopted by the Bush Administration.

Yet, the last American report about terrorism and the countries that sponsor it does not have any credibility, just like the American Administration itself has begun to lose its international credibility, and turn, in the eyes of the region’s peoples, into an administration that protects the Israeli monster and that practices state terror in Iraq. Many other European and Western nations have begun to share them this view having seen the American atrocities in Iraq, whether that of killing civilians or torturing prisoners that are much like what the Nazis practiced in the past and what the Israelis are practicing now.

The way the Americans have acted in the region, that ignored all UN restorations that have to do with Palestine and tried to empty them of their content and to take them out of their historical context, and the cover they provided for the Israeli acts of terror against the Palestinians have given America an image of a first class sponsor of terrorism.

In the light of these practices and the American support of Israel’s occupation that represents the highest degree of terrorism, such reports represent sheer political hypocrisy for the US is the solely responsible for state terror and for founding terrorist groups in the region as well as in the entire world.

Moreover, if the American Annual report on terrorism has excluded Iraq from the list of states that sponsor terrorism, Iraq itself has become the first front for International terror in the world. It is the place where America kills all those who oppose its polices and raids civilian targets. It is also the place where civilians are killed by other factions in cold blood.

America’s image in the world is the image of a state that sponsors and supports terrorism, a state that kills civilians and violates international laws regarding the prisoners and the rules of war. Thus, all its attempts to boost its image through various media means are doomed to fail, for it will not be able to change its ugly face or to erase the horrific memories it implanted in the minds of the Arabs, the Muslims and all peace loving nations.
