Tony Blair accuses Islamic extremism as being a cause of terrorism

Sayyed Fadlullah: The real problem lies in the imperial approach of America and its allies. The real threats the world faces are those posed by the extremism of the new cons, and the Jewish Lobby in the States, the Likud in Israel and the extremist trends of Western secularism which either support Israeli atrocities or try to deny the other his right to exist.

Asked in his weekly seminar the following question: British Prime Minister says that the threat the world faces in this stage comes from the anarchy that stems, from terrorism and “the virus of radical Islamism” as well as tyrannical states which constitute a burden on the security of the world”. Is this the real cause of the world’s problem

The Religious Authority Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah said:

It might be that Blair wants to refute the position of the European peoples who declared that Israel is the biggest threat on the security of the world. Moreover, Britain and America continue to claim that their invasion of Iraq aimed at promoting democracy in the region. But, how could those who decide to undermine the decisions of the nations, especially that of Europeans who disapproved of the war, present a viable solution to what they call rogue states.

It is clear that the problem the world suffers from today is but the American imperial hegemony that seeks to crush the nations especially the Arabs and Muslims, citing the war on terrorism to support Israel in consolidating its supremacy at the expense of the Palestinian right of self-determination. Israel is thus able to reject all UN resolutions and turn the Quartet committee into a decorative detail, while Sharon could continue his terrorist acts without any American or European pressures.

America Secretary of state claims that defeating terrorism is a strategic priority for his country, but he does not talk about the causes of this terrorism, which have to be sought in the American policies. He also says that America have made the peace between Palestinians and Israeli closer, but what he might be really meaning is that the American- supported Massacres might compel the Palestinians to surrender.

We have always said that Islam does not justify the terrorist operations, which killed both Westerners and Muslims. But the issue is that the Arabs and Muslims are victims of the organized war of terror led by the US and its allies in the Arab and Muslim region.

They are the ones paying the price for this war, and they are asked to pay an additional price that involves the future of their coming generations and their natural resources, through discrediting the acts of honorable resistance against the Israeli occupation and presenting them as acts of terror. We believe that when the American administration talks about continuing the war against terrorism as being a strategic priority it actually means continuing the war on all the Arab and Muslim countries to subject them in the name of democracy and human rights.

We say to the Secretary of state and to the British Prime Minister that the real problem lies in the imperial approach of America and its allies. The real threats the world faces are those posed by the extremism of the new cons, and the Jewish Lobby in the States, the Likud in Israel and the extremist trends of Western secularism which either support Israeli atrocities or try to deny the other his right to exist... It is Western hypocrisy that although does not include all the Western parties, we are afraid that these mentalities that created different forms of extremism in our region will spread more chaos in the name of fighting terrorism.
