Reading as a means of progress and development

Date: 06/05/2016 A.D 29 Rajab 1437 H

His Eminence, Sayyed Ali Fadlullah, delivered the two Friday prayer sermons at the Imamain Al-Hassanain Mosque, Rajab, 29th 1437 H. – May, 6th 2016. Several prominent religious scholars, dignitaries and thousands of believers attended the Jumu’a prayer.

In the first sermon, His Eminence, Sayyed Ali Fadlullah, focused on the importance of science and knowledge to enhance and develop the society. He considered reading in a systematic way as the best way to acquire knowledge and called on Muslims to read and read and read.

In the second sermon, the Sayyed commented on the report that marked Lebanon as the most corrupt country in the Middle East. He maintained that such news did not cause any shock and was accepted as something ordinary and normal, which shows that corruption has become an accepted norm in our daily political life.

The Sayyed added that it is enough to take a look at what is happening around us to notice that all who are accused of corruption are in fact low-ranked officials or ordinary people, while those who are really responsible remain free because they enjoy the cover of high-ranked politicians of their own sects.

The Sayyed called on all the responsible politicians to prove that they are innocent since they are, according to the report, incriminated. He also called on the Lebanese people to raise their voice and stop believing that there is not any hope in change. He maintained that the Lebanese people can force change, especially when they cast their votes to elect the honest candidates and deny the corrupted the chance to resume their theft.

In Syria, the Sayyed pointed out that the course of the war in Syria has proven that no party could win the war, and that if one party wins a decisive victory in one location, another party would win a similar battle in another region. Thus, he called on the influential powers to stop pursuing their interests that enflame the war in Syria and called on the Arab and Muslim countries to help in finding a solution in Syria.
