The second sermon

Worshippers of Allah, The Most Exalted: I advise you and myself with what Allah, The Most Exalted, warned us from, when He said in the context of describing a scene on the Day of Judgment: “And [yet], among the people are those who take other than Allah as equals [to Him]. They love them as they [should] love Allah . But those who believe are stronger in love for Allah .And if only they who have wronged would consider [that] when they see the punishment, [they will be certain] that all power belongs to Allah and that Allah is severe in punishment ,and they should consider that] when those who have been followed disassociate themselves from those who followed [them], and they [all] see the punishment, and cut off from them are the ties [of relationship], Those who followed will say, ‘If only we had another turn [at worldly life] so we could disassociate ourselves from them as they have disassociated themselves from us’. Thus will Allah show them their deeds as regrets upon them. And they are never to emerge from the Fire” [2; 165-167].Allah, The Most Exalted, speaks the truth.

Allah, The Most Exalted, wished to warn us from following untrustworthy leaders and public and influential figures, and subjugate our values, principals and freedom, for these people will disassociate themselves from us on the Day of Judgment.

We should be aware of this, to know where our steps are taking us, especially in the Hereafter, which is our final abode. Once we do that we will guarantee that we are pursuing the straight path and become able of facing challenges.

Would the Government save the country?

In Lebanon, where the government was formed , after all the obstacles and differences were overcome… These differences that regretfully were not over the agenda and the program that ought to be adoptedto relief the Lebanese citizens from their sufferings, or the ability of those chosen by the political parties   to perform the tasks they would be  commissioned with, or to ask for a certain period that is enough for the political parties and the people who took to the street to agree on this government. On the contrary, it was the competition over the positions, the shares and the influence that had to be resolved before the government was able to be born .

If this polarization is not dealt with properly, it will affect the coherence of the government and its abilityto perform the role that is demandedfrom it; it is an extraordinary roleif we take into considerationthat not all the effective parties agreed on it, while the Lebanesedemand that it wouldresolve the economic crisis and rise in the prices of goods and the lack of necessary services.

Then, there are the external demands, which might surpass the reforms that should be fulfilled to grant its aid. The government has also, which is the biggest concern,to address the multiple demands of those who have took to the ‘street’ for the past three months.

Forming the government is a positive step

Despite al the negative atmospheres that accompanied the birth of the government, which we  had preferred  that it had not happened between theparties that aresupposed to be in agreement on the strategic issues, we, nevertheless,  believe that the birth of the government is a positivestep  compared to vacuum and the need for the presence of an authority the internal and external forces refer to.It has also achieved some of the ‘street’ demands including specialists and gave the women a bigger share.

We say to the government, as we said before, that it is able to overcome all the formation obstacles, despite the opposition of certain parties and despite creating an atmosphere of frustration that claims that it is impossible to save the country,  if it acts as a coherent and unified bodyand present a realistic agenda to solve the crises and if itkeeps away from partisan politics, sectarian calculations and division of shares.

The opposition

We would also like to tell the opposition, that has been formed or that is going to be formed, that the existence of an opposition is necessary to build the country, but they have to take into consideration the difficult circumstances Lebanon is facing. It has towatch and hold accountable and present alternative options, and not to score points.

At the same time, we call on those who took to the streets as well as those outside them tocontinue their positive pressure, for they have proven that they can change a lot by their presence, but at the same time, they should be aware of being made the fuelin the war of others.

The Iraqi developments

Following the latest developments in Iraq, we call on the political parties and all Iraqi leaders to enhance their unity and refrain from any sectarian calculations that might undermine it and join hands in ridding Iraq from corruption, waste and manipulation.
