Saturday, April 2, 2022 is the first day of Ramadan

The Juristic Office of the Institution of His Eminence, the late Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlallah (ra), issued a statement concerning the beginning of the month of Ramadan, 1443H. Following is the text of the statement:

The new crescent (central conjunction) for the month of Ramadan, 1443H will be born on Friday The first day of April, 2022 at: 06:24 (GMT) that is 09:24, Beirut time.

As noticed in the picture above: On Friday evening, the crescent can be sighted with the naked eye provided the weather is clear and the viewer is experienced, in the western part of North and Central America and with the armed eye in most of the Americas and a small part of Africa, (North –West) . Thus, Saturday, April 2, 2022 is the first day of the month of Ramadan in the regions that share a part of the night with the regions where sighting is possible. And Sunday, April three, is the first day in the regions that do not share a part of the night with the regions where sighting is possible, according to the jurisprudential opinion of His Eminence, the late Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah (ra) who deems it enough to sight the crescent, whether by the naked eye or by the aid of telescopes, in any region with which we share a part of the night.

On Saturday evening, sighting is possible easily with the naked eye in most of the world regions, as it is shown in the above picture.

We invoke Allah, the Most Exalted, to make it a month of good, blessings and forgiveness. May He grant us success to fast its days and pray in its nights, in addition to reciting the Holy Quran and the supplications, as well as doing good and giving in charity. We pray that Allah, The Most Exalted, would accept our deeds in this blessed month, as well as relieving all sufferings that befell our nation. It is He Who hears and answers, and He is Most Merciful.
