“No god but God” by Reza Aslan, an Iranian-American Muslim scholar, serves as an account of the history of Islam, including the dawn of Islam, the Abbasid Empire and the Ottoman Empire, until contemporary times. The book, published in 2006, has received mixed criticism; while some proposed that it “provided a liberal version of Islam, which simply does not exist,” others described it as “elegantly written… and explains the magnificent yet misunderstood faith.”
